KANURI OF NORTHERN NIGERIA (kah-NUH-ree). When the Kanuri Team returned last month to remove the well-drilling equipment from the village of K, for which you have been praying, four men came to ask the missionary to stay and complete the well-drilling there. The missionary assured them that he was more than willing to do so, but since the town chief and elders had asked him to stop the work and leave, they would have to get the town chief to agree to this. The four men went to talk to the chief on his farm and then returned with two more men (now six in all) to beg the missionary not to remove the rig. Team members write: “The village leaders have told us to leave, but these six men are begging us to stay. (One of these men had stood in a previous meeting of the elders and defended our being there and sharing the gospel. We believe that he may very well be a genuine seeker of the truth and a ‘man of peace’ for continuing the work in this village.) How can we remain in a village where the actual leaders have told us to leave? What security risks will we be taking if we try to stay and drill the well for these six men, against the wishes of the leaders and of the radical youth in the village? Please pray for us. We simply need clear direction from the Lord in this matter. Pray that even now, God is working to re-set an open door for our well drilling and for the gospel in K-town.” http://imb.org/main/pray/
